THE 2008 WASHINGTON PR WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

Washington Women in Public Relations (WWPR) invites you to nominate yourself or another female public relations professional for consideration of the 2008 Washington PR Woman of the Year award. Three finalists will be selected to be honored and the award winner will be named during the Washington PR Woman of the Year Luncheon on Wednesday, November 5, 2008. This is WWPR’s signature annual event, drawing the top public relations professionals in the community.

SELECTION PROCESS
Nominees will be judged by the current WWPR President, the past President and a panel of senior public relations professionals on the following criteria:

NOMINEE QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be female professionals with a minimum of 10 years experience in the public relations field, at least five of which have been in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The nominee does not have to be a member of WWPR.

Demonstrated Ability in the Public Relations Field (65%)
Including, but not limited to, a creative body of work; knowledge of the profession; management skills and meaningful contributions to the growth of her organization; unique or prestigious jobs held; and major accomplishments. Submissions demonstrating individual contributions, project management and leadership, in addition to her team results, are strongly encouraged. Please list any awards and other acknowledgement by peers, including letters, plaques and/or awards from companies, organizations or associations.

Contributions to the Community (20%)
Including but not limited to, board positions, volunteer work, activities that promote professional advancement of women or teaching positions.

Leadership Qualities (15%)
Including, but not limited to, willingness to mentor and otherwise help young PR practitioners, leadership roles in professional organizations, and reputation among peers.


HOW TO MAKE A NOMINATION:

1. Write a brief (one-page) letter highlighting the candidate’s strengths and why she is an outstanding woman in public relations. Self-nominations are encouraged. Include your name, address, email and daytime telephone number.

2. Attach a current resume, curriculum vitae or biography of the nominee. Please indicate if this applicant has applied previously (we encourage re-submissions).

3. Send nomination and supporting materials no later than Friday, September 12, 2008 to:
