Blog POWER
We have all heard the term blog, but do we realize
the power of a blog? Some of us monitor a blog regularly for a client
and/or account and others of us host our own blog. Lately, I have
been overwhelmed by the sheer number of newspaper and magazine stories
on blogs.
Webomedia.com defines blog as a Web page that
serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual;
typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of
the author.
Some critics say blogs are going to put newspapers
to rest. While others predict, over time, blogs and newspapers will
work hand in hand. For example, the Boston Globe sponsors a job
blog at bostonworks.boston.com/blog. If you want to know more about
bikes, yarn, disease, clouds, medicine, or stickers, there is a
blog that will provide you with the information you are searching
for.
Bloggers are invited to press conferences, bloggers
are asked to report sporting events and now bloggers are invited
into the White House. Can you believe that 80,000 new blogs are
created everyday? According to the "State of the Blogosphere"
report released by Technorati in early August, there are about 14.2
million blogs that currently exist, and 55 percent are active. We
must ask ourselves, what are blogs saying about our clients or company?
And, what blogs can we utilize to get our message out?
Blogs are developing into central components of
political campaigns and are being used more as a public relations
tool. Visit the following Web sites and read the following news
articles to learn more about blogs:
