Member Benefits

How will you benefit from membership in WWPR?

  • Networking is the number one benefit of membership. The key to any membership organization is the people who comprise it. Members of Washington Women in Public Relations are wonderful resources for answers to your day-to-day questions. Perhaps you need a recommendation for a PR firm for your organization, or a vendor for a special project. Over the years, members have found new career opportunities, partners for collaborative projects and mentors within our membership. WWPR members develop lasting friendships and business relationships.
  • Monthly Professional Development Opportunities are also a valuable benefit. WWPR offers both brown bag luncheons - which are free to members - and more formal luncheons. Some sample topics include: Crisis Communications, Protecting Your Words in Cyberspace, and When to Use Surveys and Polls in PR. Non-member rates for the formal luncheons are generally $45 - $50, so if you attend more than one, it's to your benefit to join today. Please see our upcoming events.
  • Marketing/Communications, Web Site and E-Mails. Members are featured in our WWPR newsletter, and each professional development event is summarized to keep you up-to-date on the most recent public relations topics. The monthly WWPR e-mail mailing list lets you know of upcoming events in the greater public relations community, and our website provides a discussion board that includes job postings and industry contacts.
  • On-line Membership Directory puts you in touch with top-notch public relations and communications professionals across the Washington metropolitan area.
  • Giving Back. Each year WWPR works with a local client on a pro-bono basis. This is our opportunity to use our skills for a good cause. Currently, our client is Doorways for Women and Families. We are in the process of helping them develop and implement PR strategies.

As a WWPR member, you will also have access to Member-only areas of the web site, like Networking and Resources. You can also view the Member Directory and read archived issues of our newsletter.
